Join us for a fun surf day in the sun and a Club Scrimmage/BBQ/Beach Clean-Up event at Bolinas on Sunday, July 13. We've also invited the NorCal Women's Surf Club to participate. Details & how to sign up by Wednesday, July 9 are below.

For the culinary types, on Saturday, July 12, Monica is also hosting an optional Star Route Farms (organic produce farm) tour & gourmet luncheon with owner Warren Weber, a leading influence on the organic food movement in the Bay Area. An optional Saturday afternoon surf session follows. Read on for more info.

SUNDAY, JULY 13
8:30am - 9:00am: Surf Contest Primer
For newbies and the experienced, Kris Schuman will give an overview on surf contest rules, judging, point-scoring maneuvers, heat strategy and more. Bring good questions!

9:00am - 12:00pm: Surf Scrimmage
(optional Surf Lessons/Free Surf for non-participants)
Practice your longboard competition skills in scrimmage heats. We'll have all the jerseys, judges, etc. to simulate the real thing. To sign up, reply to this email with your name and age If we have time & turnout, we'll try to run a shortboard heat or two (let us know on signup). We also need a few more volunteers to judge. (we'll hope to videotape the heats, too, and provide some feedback.)

For those aren't participating, go ahead and freesurf nearby. If anyone is seeking surf lessons for themselves or others, email us and we'll arrange it.

12:00pm - 2:00pm: BBQ Lunch/Club Meeting
We'll have a BBQ on the beach and update everyone on upcoming club activities and news. BBQ COST: $10.00 per person. We'll provide the grill plus some burgers & hot dogs, but please bring your own beverages and other food items to share.

2:00pm: Bolinas Beach Clean Up with Marin Surfrider Grab a trash bag as the high tide goes out. Prize(s) to largest bag of trash collected. Marin Surfider is bringing a group of 6+ volunteers to join us. (optional surfing afterwards!).

Join a small group of us for a tour and gourmet luncheon at the Bolinas organic produce farm, Star Route Farms, led by owner & Berkeley PhD Warren Weber, a major leading force behind the organic farming movement in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Star Route Farms is well-known for its field greens, leafy greens, baby carrots, garlic, peppers, herbs, edible flowers, leeks and fava beans and wild nettles.

o 11am - 12:30pm - Farm tour w/ owner Warren Weber

o 12:30pm - 1:00pm Presentations on MALT (Marin Agricultural Land Trust) and Marin Organic

o 1:00pm - 2:00pm - Lunch in the Orchard

Menu includes:
Local Brickmaiden Bread with Cowgirl Creamery Cheeses; Salad of Star Route Farm greens; Poached fresh locally caught wild pacific salmon with Straus yogurt sauce; Seasonal vegetables from Marin farms; Local herbal tea; Point Reyes Vineyard Chardonnay and their Sparkling Wine;.Local berries for dessert
