As vice president of Coldwater surf club I was able to sign Vince up as a member and from the first time he and I spoke together I felt the strongest gift of caring and love a person could give. Before surfing down in Ventura at the Arden Taylor Vince telephoned me and here are his words. \"Bruce I wanted to surf the event down in Ventura but it is so far I don\'t know, will it help the club if I surf?\" I told him that it always helps the club when members participate in the events and he said he would be there. This was the kind of fellow Vince was and will always be in my memories. He taught me to think of others and quit dwelling on my self. Charlene his wife stated to me that Vince loved surfing and loved his family even more. It hurts me now to know that when we were having the conversation about Ventura he didn\'t tell me the pain was so great he could hardly stand, but that was the kind of guy he was. Charlene said that Saturday after surfing he doubled over in pain but never said anything to any of us. I also had the pleasure of seeing for the first time some of his paintings. The most bone chilling one of all is a mural in his daughters bed room that he painted while he was so sick from Kimo but he did it and it would bring tears to your eyes. He painted so the person looking at the painting is the surfer inside a perfect smooth faced left hand barrel and looking out of the barrel you are looking onto a beautiful Hawaiian paradise beach. I will be obtaining photos of his paints and prints to share with the surfing community. I fight tears as I write this because I already miss him so much as a dear friend. For us who did know him we were blessed and for those of you who weren\'t able to meet him you will know what he was like if some day a very small meek person comes into your life and lights it up with joy and happiness. Vince we love You!

I will miss Vince and the energy he brought with him. He will always hold a place in my heart. My prayers are with his family and friends.
